A few days ago, I created my
first blog. At first, I was a little confused on what we were supposed to do
considering I always seem to interpret directions completely differently than
how they are supposed to be interpreted. I had no clue where to start. But then
I realized, “Hey, this is just like making Facebook or a Twitter page, it’s
EASY…and quite self explanatory.” Honestly, once I understood the assignment
everything was straightforward from there. I was actually surprised by the fact
that these blogs can be as personalized as one wants; I think it’s fabulous when
one can express themselves on their webpages and share a little about themselves.
In the past, I have only blogged using Word Press for an Intro to Media class
here at DU, but we weren’t able to personalize our blogs. Needless to say, I
like Blogger better already! Since my only experience with blogging was on such
a vague page, I guess my conception of blogs was quite different. I didn’t
realize how much life one could add to their blogs and how there are so many
different uses for a blog. Reflecting back on how making a blog is like making
a Facebook page, there truly are various similarities. For example, one may type
in a little blurb about themselves and has the option of displaying their
interest, adding a photo, etc. In essence, these two web pages are one’s own.
They can reflect personality, opinion, style…it’s a little taste of oneself. Blogging and writing are no different in my
opinion, although writing tends to be a bit more formal, both can be about
whatever one pleases. In the end, they both are a set of words used to send out
a message. To me, both are satisfying. I’m excited to see where this blog takes
me…who knows? Maybe I’ll start blogging as a hobby and not just as an
assignment!
