Well,
I’m nine blog posts deep. So far, this is my second college class that requires
me to frequently blog. In all honesty, I’ve had more fun with Blogger than Word
Press, and I’ve liked the blog topics more in this class. I’ve definitely felt
like this writing course has actually made me, TRULY enjoy blogging. I’m not
just saying that to be a suck-up, because I loved and was passionate about the
other class (Intro to Media, Culture, & Society) as well, I just didn’t
enjoy the blogging as much.
For
me, the most challenging part of working with these posts has been deciding the
content of them I don’t put too much thought into it though, I just write. But
sometimes, deciding the key, important parts of an author’s article can be
troublesome, and sometimes, I tend to go overboard. But then again, that’s just
me. I always have too much to say. In some situations, I should probably work
on that. 600 words for a 250-word requirement might just be too much.
I’m
actually quite surprised with how passionate I’ve become about the blog, I feel
personal attachment to the blog; it’s MY blog. And not in a selfish, possessive
way, more like…in a proud, accomplished way.
It’s interesting to see how one topic can have so many different
answers. Each of my fellow classmates answers the prompt in their own way, sometimes….
completely different from another. But that’s what makes it theirs. I love
seeing how each person adds a different element to the same topic.
Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy seeing everyone’s styles of writing. It amazes
me some of the ideas and thoughts my classmates come up with. Yes, I’m working
with a smart, educated, opinionated, talented bunch.
In
terms of web habits, I guess they haven’t changed all that much. I’m still
tempted by Facebook every two seconds and I still do the same old routines.
BUT, I do have a new element to my routine. News checking. Honestly, I tried
doing that once in a while already. Now, it’s becoming a frequent habit, and it
was definitely something I was aspiring to do anyway. Being an informed citizen
of the world is important… especially at this academic level.
There
is one aspect I’ve definitely noticed a change in, when it comes to my writing
habits. At first, I was conservative with my opinion and was a bit skeptical
about voicing it all the way in a college class. Pssshhh. That didn’t last long
at all; as soon as the fire within me was ignited I became completely freed
from any ties that were holding me down. Once I found a topic to be passionate
about, nothing was going to stop me from saying what I thought. That’s what
blogs are for after all, right?
In
short, I guess one could say I didn’t ever picture “blogging” as a possibility
in my life. I didn’t have anything against it, but I never thought it could be
for me. I can reassure the world that this idea of blogging has changed. I
enjoy it, and I’ll continue it. Go bloggingJ
