This isn’t me sucking up. This isn’t me lying to get a good
grade. I LOVED this course. Honestly, I looked forward to coming to this
writing class, and I know many of my peers felt the same way. A lot has to do
with the professor; we got really frickin’ lucky. I don’t know that many kids
who thought their professor was as awesome as mine and my fellow writ peers.
I’ve always
been fascinated by contemporary news and how news travels and changes over
time. I think we had awesome discussions about contemporary events and did a
good job linking those discussions and events to our writing prompts. It’s fun
to write about things that interest you and happen in the world around you,
instead of writing about boring, monotone prompts. In-class discussions were
always interesting, not to mention entertaining…I’d always get a good laugh out
of something. Getting to choose the blog we followed and having the opportunity
to write a lot of blogs/an essay about that made the class very entertaining. I
actually got really into it. Reading the New York Times has been extremely
useful because I’ve developed a habit of reading the news, and this was
something I always wanted to get in to! I definitely think that following
blogs, reading the newspaper, and even writing blogs are habits that I will
continue beyond this course.
Thanks Professor LeakeJ
Thanks so much, Nicole. I've enjoyed reading your blog. You did well to give it personality and make it more than just another writing assignment. And I'm glad that you thought the course interesting, useful, and fun. That's certainly what I was aiming for.
